It's not a store, it's an illustrated book! A color picture book, on Boulevard Beaumarchais, called “Les Images de Marc”. Here the history of fine arts unfolds from 1890 to around 1970, in the form of a phenomenal collection of illustrations: advertising or political posters, postcards, original drawings, fashion plates, illustrated books, leaflets, menus restaurants and so on.
Only condition: each image, each object, each visual must be original and have an intrinsic interest in the eyes of the owner of the place, Marc Lefebvre, a Parisian passionate about his subject, formerly an expert with the National Company of Experts, capable of estimate at a glance the rarities it offers to a clientele of amateurs and collectors.
In this wonderful pictorial bric-a-brac, there are postcards from the Irish and Russian revolutions, drawings by Mucha (Art Nouveau), Air France posters signed Georges Mathieu, history books illustrated by Job, posters originals from May 1968, works by Poulbot, copies of the Assiette au Beurre (the ancestor of the Canard Enchainé) and many other images linked to the themes of wine & champagne, automobiles, and fashion.
The price range is wide: from 5 to 15.000€. The choice is eclectic. The variety is dizzying. Here, some customers linger for hours, immersed in this “treasure chest”. That's good: Marc Lefebvre, who has been in the profession since 1981, takes his time when it comes to sharing his passion for beauty. As for his sense of formula, it undoubtedly comes from his long association with advertising images. “Marc’s images” is pretty good, isn’t it?
