Boleslove showcase and boutique
It's not Sèvres blue or Klein blue but it's almost there. Of equal depth, the “cobalt blue” of Boleslove is everywhere in this welcoming store on rue du Pont-aux-Choux specializing in Bolesławiec tableware. Little known in France, the prestigious “manufaktura” of this town in southwest Poland has been producing domestic objects for centuries, following the rules of the art of ceramics.
DOT teapot and mug – Boleslove
“It is the work of the artisans that makes these pieces remarkable,” explains Irmina, the hostess, about the teapots, plates, cups, salad bowls, plates, pots and other lamp bases which are available in four collections: “timeless”, “contemporary”, “bucolic” and “exceptional pieces”.
Each object is painted by hand, with a stamp and a brush, sometimes with strong symbolism. “The dots, or polka dots, evoke protection while the paulus, that is to say the peacock feathers, represent benevolence, peace and prosperity. As for hearts, there's no need to look far: they obviously symbolize love!
Blue Poppy Mug – Boleslove
“The ceramic is fired at 1270 degrees for 12 hours, which preserves the vibrancy of the colors, guarantees resistance to shocks and therefore allows objects to be preserved for a lifetime,” continues Irmina, whose boutique with its blue facade opened its doors in the Marais in spring 2022. Plate at €25, mugs at €39, teapots at €79.
