Le Marais mood  The Marais Dance Center

Then we dance ? Yes, and not with just anyone! During the All Saints' Day holidays, the Nadine Bommer Dance Academy company takes up residence at the Center de Danse du Marais, where we sway our hips in a thousand ways, always with grace and good humor.

From October 23 to November 3, children aged 8 to 12 and 13 to 18 will be able to form with the incredible gestural language centered on the infinite movement of the sea, developed by Nadine Bommer, a famous choreographer whose technique, close to the movement, is praised by Antoine Carrance, the director of the Center batsheva.

“What's more, underlines the one who created a very popular musical comedy course for 6-17 year olds, Nadine Bommer knows how to write tailor-made choreographic scores for children, just as rich as those for adults ".

A native of New York, American-Israeli Nadine Bommer created her company in 1997 and presented her first choreographies before the age of 30. Throughout her creations, she codifies her method, going through stages focused on classical technique (Nevet), improvisation (Kinetica) and characterization (Animato). The latter, Animato, completed in 2006, gives its name to the method. Based on kinetic energy, improvisation and internal listening, it makes it possible to create narrative and comic dance works.

The Animato combines in a single movement classical technique, contemporary dance, modern jazz, pantomime, theater performance and so on. The result is choreographies filled with crazy energy and perpetual movement that carries the bodies away.

During the All Saints' Day holidays, two dance masters trained by Nadine Bommer arrive at Rue du Temple to the great pleasure of the children.

In recent years, the method invented by the choreographer has been adopted by 15 dance schools in Israel, where Antoine Carrance discovered the Nadine Bommer Dance Academy (in Tel Aviv). Captivated, he decided to import this method to France. In Paris. In the Marsh. Bright idea!

TO TAKE CARE OF YOU, IT'S THIS WAY

We tested Ashtanga Yoga with Hawaiian Callie Mahoney

We tested Ashtanga Yoga with Hawaiian Callie Mahoney

During Ashtanga Yoga sessions with Callie Mahoney, you feel like you're going to the end of the world, somewhere on a distant island. Normal: this former model who has been practicing yoga since a young age herself comes from Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Where to swim in the Marais?

Where to swim in the Marais?

With the summer holidays approaching, what could be better than a few swimming sessions to shape a summer body? Unfortunately, the Marais only has one swimming pool on its territory, that of Saint-Merri, opposite Beaubourg (4th). Fortunately, two pools are not far away…

A center well in its “Element”

A center well in its “Element”

Yoga, qi-gong, relaxation, pilates, lymphatic massage, meditation workshop, shamanic exploration, sound bath or even breathework to stop procrastinating... There is something for all tastes, all rhythms and all sensitivities at the Element Center, a true temple of well-being where around twenty…

Divine brunch at the foot of Notre-Dame

Divine brunch at the foot of Notre-Dame

Of course, officially, it is not the Marais. But at Son de la Terre, a barge recently moored at the Montebello quay (5th), the 4th arrondissement is in sight. Moreover, this one is incredible: on one side, it is Notre-Dame flooded with sunlight; on the other, the quays, the book sellers, the walkers, the joggers.

Saka, a cocktail bar like in Tokyo

Saka, a cocktail bar like in Tokyo

Here is an address which gives the measure of the transformation of the Marais. And it's enough to silence the grumpy people whose mantra is: “It was better before…” No, everything was not better “before” in the Marais. Besides, there was no American bar like Saka, which cultivates a form of excellence that can only be found in Japan.

Jazz at 38Riv: The highlights of May

Jazz at 38Riv: The highlights of May

The only jazz club in the Marais, 38Riv is the temple of cool and swing. Rue de Rivoli, between Saint-Paul and Hôtel de Ville, its vaulted cellars are the home base of the new jazz scene. Every evening, the magic happens.
