The extraordinary trial of the attacks of November 13, 2015, which will open on September 8 and last eighteen months, will have a practical consequence. The Île de la Cité will be closed to car traffic in order to facilitate access to some 1 civil parties and their 800 lawyers, as well as to around thirty of their defense colleagues, magistrates, and hundreds of journalists .

The trial is to be held four days a week, in the old courthouse between approximately 12:30 p.m. and 20 p.m. There will be, with some exceptions, no hearing on Mondays. A suspension is planned for Christmas, another around the anniversary of the attacks: the hearing will thus be suspended from November 11 to 15, 2021.

Exiting the Marais by car via rue Beaubourg towards the Île de la Cité will therefore no longer be possible. Rue de Rivoli being, as we know, prohibited to private vehicles, there will only be two exit roads left: Bastille and République. This decision is made by the Paris prefecture, in consultation with the Ministry of Justice and Paris City Hall.
