For Notre-Dame de Paris to regain all its splendor, several projects must still be launched with the remaining 150 million euros of the 700 million euros that allowed the restoration of the cathedral.

This is why a third phase of work is planned. It should begin in 2025, after the building reopens to the public. Here is the list of upcoming projects:

1-

The exterior facades, flying buttresses and choir of Notre-Dame must be consolidated because they have been weakened by the fire of 2019, but also by time. This includes the reconstruction of the flying buttresses, the treatment of sculptures and stone facings damaged by air pollution, as well as the renovation of the chevet, as well as the eastern facade of the cathedral.

2-

The sacristy and the treasury, the first will be renovated to restore clarity to the stone and stained glass windows. The treasury, that is to say the precious objects, such as the large monstrance, will be cleaned. This project includes the installation of a new scenography designed by Nathalie Crinière, aimed at highlighting the wonders of sacred art in a redesigned tour, enriched with new orders such as liturgical tableware and a new crosier.

3-

The restoration of the drip walls, the elevation walls of the galleries, the reserves and the chapels of the chevet. This work aims to treat the pathologies of the stone prior to the fire and to consolidate the entire architectural structure.

4-

The treatment of sculptures and stone facings altered by Parisian atmospheric pollution involves their cleaning and restoration. These interventions aim to eliminate pollution deposits and restore the sculptures and facades to their original appearance, while preserving their historical and artistic integrity.

5-

Work on the transept transepts and the presbytery is also planned. The northern and southern parts of the transept, the collapsed vaults and the gables will benefit from repairs. As for the presbytery adjacent to the cathedral, it was inevitably affected by the fire and the extinguishing operations. It will therefore have to be cleaned, decontaminated and renovated.
These exterior works could cost up to 170 million euros according to estimates.
