Mini-café, rue des Barres

After opening its very first counter on Île St Louis, known as the smallest coffee shop in Paris, Mini Café is opening a new location in a new setting where modernity plays with history.

Nestled in a former abbey inhabited for twenty-five years by nuns, the high-ceilinged, exposed-stone space has retained its old-world charm, while adopting the codes of a contemporary coffee shop.

At the helm are Loïc and his partner, a passionate Vietnamese chef who ran a restaurant in the 9th arrondissement before taking her CAP in 2023. Together, they offer a short menu, for a hearty breakfast or a healthy and delicious lunch break.

Everything is meticulously prepared, combining simplicity and creativity: avocado toast on a slice of sando bread – a light Japanese sandwich bread – with perfectly ripe avocado, feta and cherry tomatoes, yogurt granola enhanced with passion fruit puree imported from Vietnam, or homemade cakes made daily.

There are chocolate cookies, but also more exotic ingredients like Ube (purple sweet potato), pandan (aromatic leaf) or the now essential matcha.

Mini Café also focuses on specialty coffee, roasted by a Dutch artisan renowned for its light, fruity notes. Behind the counter sits a Slayer machine, a high-end machine created in Seattle, which extracts all the finesse of the coffees. The drinks follow the seasons, with winter variations designed like cocoons.

The logo, a chubby little hand inspired by Buddha's hand, perfectly illustrates the Mini Café spirit: simple and warm. Even the tableware plays on contrast: hygienic stainless steel dishes placed on stone and dark wood, to break with the norms and modernize the experience. With its few seats and peaceful atmosphere, Mini Café is a rare stop, both intimate and joyful, where taste blends with detail.
