Main divinity among the Aztecs, the feathered serpent (Quetzalcoatl, in local language, symbol of death and rebirth) is a well-chosen name for this cocktail bar on Place des Vosges. Not only does it sound like the name of an alcoholic mixture. But it is also relevant for an establishment located underground. In Mexican mythology, the afterlife was in fact located in the underworld, that is to say under the earth, where souls gave themselves rendez-vous.
The comparison ends there, because under the vast vaulted cellars of the Plumed Serpent, it is rather fun and good humor that dominate, thanks to the owner of the place, the whimsical Alex Rash, a native of Minneapolis, in the United States. United.

Art dealer, publisher and occasional skateboarder, he offers a creative menu and evocative names: Daphné Rose (Calvados, Cynar, Campari), Kendal Jones (Ron Colon rum, dry sherry, lime, simple syrup, golden latte) , Sacha Piper (Vodka, Volcano cold brew, Kahlua coffee liquor).
During this period of curfew and confinement, the mischievous Alex describes his cocktails as “uplandish” because they “get on the street”. “Made with a lot of love”, according to the thirty-year-old, his drinks are in fact sold on the streets, under the arcades of the Place des Vosges, at the price of €40 per bottle (home deliveries are possible).
It's already that. But we are impatiently awaiting the reopening of the Plumed Serpent and its 1970s decor adorned with collector's items (XNUMXth century tapestries, pre-Columbian sculptures, etc.) which hosts evenings with extravagant themes; jacuzzi, pajamas or shibari (Japanese art of bondage) against the backdrop electro, jazz and classical. Looking forward to getting back to normal! And long live the underworld!
