Identity photo of Agnès Varda in 1962

Du April 9 to August 24, 2025, Carnavalet Museum pays tribute to Agnès Varda with the exhibition The Paris of Agnès Varda, here and there, which explores his still little-known photographic work.

This immersive tour is structured around the courtyard-studio on rue Daguerre, a true creative laboratory for the artist from 1951 to 2019. Through 130 prints, many of which have never been seen before, the exhibition highlights the way in which Varda captured Parisian life, combining humor and sensitivity.

The result of two years of research, this exhibition also reveals the importance of Paris in her work, where documentary and fiction meet. Visitors will discover extracts from emblematic films such as Cléo de 5 à 7, where the city becomes a reflection of the characters' emotions. At the same time, portraits and reports bear witness to her unique view of women and marginalized people, illustrating her social commitment.

The exhibition closes with portraits of Agnès Varda in her courtyard garden, a space that has become emblematic and which has nourished her work throughout her life. rendez-vous essential to rediscover this great lady of cinema and photography.
