It's a clear place and well framed like a film photo. Normal, one might say, since this café-restaurant also has a bookstore section dedicated to photography with quality, sometimes rare works – selected by different curators such as Christine Barthe, the photo manager of the Quai Branly museum or Erik Kessels , a specialist in vernacular photography.

On this Sunday morning, here we are In the Mood for Brunch. Every weekend, Christine Yé, a Frenchwoman of Chinese origin, offers a brunch menu in a decor that multiplies references to cinema. Everything, set to a soothing background sound – often Asian music – is impeccable. Which can also be explained by the pedigree of the hostess who worked for a long time in the luxury industry.

On the menu, a refined selection of fresh produce and homemade dishes: hot drinks, soft drinks, squeezed orange juice, pastries, raw vegetables, roasted vegetables, pumpkin soup and desserts of your choice.

After a glass of black tea, an Earl Gray kumkwat and honey with a fresh and subtle flavor, we begin the main part of the brunch. It's a homemade bamboo charcoal focaccia on which is served your choice of: salmon, beef or halloumi snake (with guacamole, red cabbage pickles, tamago egg, black sesame). The plate is beautiful, the classic formula is 39 euros, the children's formula from 3 to 10 years old is 25 euros.

Here, nothing is left to chance, we appreciate the sense of beauty and culinary research as well as the intention to do well. Proximity to the beautiful books in the bookstore adds to the feeling of fullness which is based on two types of nourishment: for the body and for the spirit.

Oysters and fish: P'tit Mousse knows his job

Why bother going to Wepler or La Coupole, when there is P'tit Mousse? Both an oyster bar and a fish restaurant, this address on Rue Rambuteau advantageously replaces the Parisian brasseries on Place Clichy and Boulevard Montparnasse.
