No need to run to the 8th arrondissement to treat yourself to tea (or a drink) at the bar of a five-star hotel.

This little luxury is also accessible in the Marais where, in recent years, several high-end establishments have set up shop.

After the Pavillon de la Reine, the Dupont-Smith hotel and the Bains Paris, here is the 9 confidential arrived at the end of 2018 in a building with an art deco facade, bow windows, panoramic view of the Parisian zinc roofs and, in the distance , the genius of the Bastille.

The owners, the Quentin-Moroy family, gave carte blanche to Philippe Stark who designed a neoclassical decor but with a Grand Budapest Hotel twist.

Here the sanded oak of the furniture, the brushed stainless steel of Yann Masseyeff's sculptures, the pastel tones as well as the soft and flattering light envelop the common areas and the twenty-nine rooms.

As for visitors, it is on the ground floor that they curl up in one of the living rooms or the fireplace area, to treat themselves to a quiet and local moment because the house is supplied by artisans in the neighborhood.

La Perla, the Latino “happy hour”

It's 19 p.m. on this Friday evening when we push open the door of La Perla, at the corner of rue François-Miron and rue du Pont-Louis-Philippe, in the 4th. Opened in the 1990s, this tequila bar is part of the Marais landscape. And it has proven itself.

BIBoVINo: the wine is in the box

BIBoVINo: the wine is in the box

With its double exposure, on the rue Charlot side and on the Enfants-Rouges market side, it's impossible to miss this boutique in the Marais with the funny name: BIBoVINo. Ideally, this brand, known to insiders in the Marais and elsewhere, does not sell cubitainers of “staining red” but, on the contrary, local wines…

The Marais Jewish quarter in Paris

The Marais Jewish quarter in Paris

From the 13th century, the Marais was home to a Jewish community which remained there until its expulsion in the 14th century. Fleeing poverty and persecution, Jews from Eastern countries and those from Alsace settled there in the 19th century. Around rue des rosiers and Place Saint-Paul renamed Pletz…
