Tina is a customs officer at Stockholm airport, where she excels thanks to a highly developed sense of smell which allows her to detect not only the slightest illicit substance, but also the shameful feelings of travelers. This extraordinary ability is not the only characteristic that differentiates her from the rest of society: there is her ugliness, too. One day, a man with a strange appearance like her, Vore, shows up at customs. She knows he's hiding a secret, but can't figure out what it is. Worse still, she feels a strange attraction to him...
Born in 1981 in Tehran, Ali Abbasi studied polytechnics before immigrating to Europe, to Stockholm, where he studied architecture. In 2007, he moved to Denmark and trained as a director at the National Film School in Copenhagen. He shot a few short films and the horror film Shelley (2016), before truly being revealed with Border (2018), which won the Un Certain Regard Prize at Cannes and multiple other awards in the United States and Europe. His third feature film, Les Nuits de Mashhad (2022) is in official competition at the Cannes Film Festival and actress Zar Amir Ebrahimi wins the best actress prize.
