It’s the ultimate comfort drink! With the return of cold weather, hot chocolate is there to invigorate those who are cold. But be careful, there is hot chocolate and hot chocolate... Le Marais Mood went in search of the smoothest, creamiest, most chocolatey ones.

Carette: royal chocolate

Photo: Carette hot chocolate

The reputation is not overrated: it is on this terrace on the Place des Vosges that one of the best chocolates in the Marais and in Paris can be tasted. In the old-fashioned or Viennese way (with its homemade whipped cream served in a bowl), it is thick but not too thick, that is to say very digestible, even almost refreshing!

In this legendary house born at Trocadéro in 1927 which moved to the Marais 11 years ago, the chocolate drink is served with homemade shortbread. Prepared from 48% Ghanaian cocoa, whole milk enriched with crème fraîche and a touch of vanilla, the drink is memorable. And energetic: approximately 346 calories.

But don't worry: this generous recipe is full of antioxidants, chocolate being known to delay cellular aging and prevent fatigue and stress.

Chocolate at €9.

Le Voltigeur: “do-it-yourself”
Princess Crepe - Le Marais Mood - Good addresses in the Marais in Paris

With its giant teddy bears hanging from its facade, the Voltigeur managed to create a little buzz. Nice surprise, the hot chocolate here holds up, which is rather rare for a Parisian café.

No need to ask for the recipe: the waiters keep its composition a secret. But you make your own mixture, with a pot of milk and a cup of hot chocolate, to pour into your cup, and that's good. €4,50.

Old and delicious: instant chocolate

Photo: Once and greedy

In this store, chocolate is everywhere: on all the shelves, and within reach. Hot chocolate ? It awaits you, already prepared, in a chocolate maker that turns before your eyes.

We serve it to you “to take away”, with a speculoos. It is eaten standing up in the shop, among “playful chocolates” in the shape of reindeer, penguin or champagne bottles. The recipe: three-quarters milk, one-third dark chocolate from Santo Domingo (with a floral and floral taste) and a little brown gianduja (mixture of cocoa and Piedmont hazelnuts). Just right sweet, velvety and perfectly balanced, in a word delicious. 3€.

The best tattoo parlors in Marais

Tattooing, an age-old practice, has long been the prerogative of convicts, dock workers, the underworld and sailors. Although it has become democratized, now affecting all profiles and concerning one in five French people, including 16% women compared to 10% men, it still remains taboo due to its definitive and transgressive nature.

On the Place de la République, a brasserie with Italian accents has just opened, which quickly made people forget the old Pizza Pino. Welcome to Piccola Mia, the fruit of the joyful encounter between Italian chef Denny Imbroisi, pizza chef Julien Serri and mixologist Matthias Giroud who creates a creative cocktail menu.
