An enchanted interlude in the Parisian tumult, where people come as much to find the rare pearl as to breathe in the unique atmosphere of a Marais in flea market mode. The traditional autumn flea market on rue de Bretagne promises, as every year, to make vintage lovers and bargain hunters jump.
On nearly 350 stands run by professionals or locals that will stretch along the streets of Bretagne, Picardie and Temple, a motley collection of bric-a-brac awaits bargain hunters.
From old furniture weathered by time to retro lighting just waiting to be given a new lease of life, to unusual decorative objects, books with pages yellowed by the years and second-hand clothes that smell of the seventies, there will be something for all tastes and budgets.
But the real star of the event might well be the children's square on the town hall forecourt. The kids will be holding a shop there, selling their second-hand toys in a friendly atmosphere. A word of advice to overzealous adults: refrain from haggling with these mini-traders. Innocence is priceless, and negotiating with toddlers is bad form.
So, whether you are a seasoned collector, vintage lover or simply curious, don't miss this rendez-vous autumnal. Who knows, you might leave with the trinket that was missing from your interior or that impossible-to-find vinyl that you've been looking for for years.
In any case, you will have tasted the very special spirit of these Parisian streets where past and present coexist with natural elegance.
