The House of Cyclades

Located in the Haut-Marais district since last June, this Greek caterer offers a richly stocked and varied counter in an ultra-minimalist and slightly conventional setting (immaculate white walls highlighted with blue). There's plenty to choose from with the twenty or so mezze on offer: eggplant caviar, two lightly salted, almost ethereal taramasalatas (the one with pieces of salmon and dill is incredible), ktipiti (green chilies, Greek yogurt, and feta), grilled peppers, Greek tabbouleh, Kalamata olives, artichoke caviar, octopus salad…

Then come the dishes: the famous moussaka, delicious, light, with its hint of cinnamon, very digestible, the soutsoukakia (beef with herbs simmered in its tomato sauce with Greek spices), the souvlakis (skewers of chicken marinated with thyme and lemon) also bring joy.

It's delicious, with no artificial flavors or other additives. It's also incredibly fresh, since everything is made in-house every day in the brand's workshop before being delivered to its four Parisian boutiques. That's surely why it's so appealing.

We eye the gourmet food section with its fruity olive oils, the dry, mineral wines that seem to capture the essence of the Aegean Sea, and other spirits, as well as all the dishes (including dessert) we haven't yet tasted. We reassure ourselves by thinking we'll have to come back for a raid, since the benefits of the Mediterranean diet are widely proven.
